The 1993 opera, "Shining Brow," is yet again being resuscitated ("revived and reimagined," as the article in Wright Society puts it) at Arizona Opera in Phoenix, Sept. 27-9, and in Tucson, Oct. 5, 6. (See AzOpera.org for details)

When it premiered in '93, some of the FLWBC members who attended were underwhelmed by the quality of the music. But I think that had more to do with the modern sensibilities of composer Daron Hagen and librettist Paul Muldoon than anything else. To FLW's Beethoven-trained ear, modern music might have a foreign sound, but non-Wright critics gave it good reviews. A CD was recorded, but never released, much to Hagen's consternation ... and mine.
