Wondering why Heath has an address of 76 Soldiers Place when the only street it's on is Bird?

Heath House address
The Heath property has a frontage of 62' facing Soldiers Place. It was carved out of a property owned by Mary Hubbard Heath's cousin, Electa Coatsworth that comprised almost a quarter of the circle's frontage. Soldiers Place is a circle and thus often called Soldiers Circle, they are the same street.
All the principal buildings fronting the circle are addressed off of Soldiers Place as it was the more prestigious address. Soldiers Place is the largest of the Olmsted circles in the Buffalo Park System at 900' across.

I've never quite figured that out. The house and entrance with that huge urn clearly align along Bird Avenue. What's interesting is that "Soldiers Place" is more or less just a side street and located in only one quadrant of the current Soldiers Circle traffic array... but is completely on the other side of the circle from Heath!Tom wrote:Wondering why Heath has an address of 76 Soldiers Place when the only street it's on is Bird?ject
Perhaps before Soldiers Circle with major thoroughfares, a humbler Soldiers Place originally circumvented the area at the time the address was assigned (though the large covered terrace would have faced Soldiers Place). For whatever reason the one quadrant was left open to local traffic and the other 3/4's of it converted to pedestrian use. That's all I can figure... obviously, the first time looking for it, the "wrong" address did not factor at all into finding the "Wright" house!
