Poor Lloyd -- first Navarro, then Sowden.

I have always thought that Lon Chaney, Jr should have played Lloyd in whatever film bio might have appeared during their lifetimes. (Lon died in 1973, Lloyd in 1978.)

Technically, Sowden doesn't have a basement. The south façade facing the street is at the base of a steep hill upon which the bulk of the house is built. The main entrance is on the lower level below the principal level, but it just leads to stairs up the SE corner. The charnel room was a "secret" walk-in closet behind bookcases in the SW library.

Lon had the nose, mouth and chin for it, but his eyes look so gentle and kind, while Lloyd always seemed to be on the verge of a temper tantrum.

Yes -- the eyebrows are radically different. I wish there were more photos of Lloyd . . .

Lon Jr's characteristic expression was one of worry or regret; one thinks of Barbara Bel Geddes or June Allyson or Teri Garr . . .
