new book: FLW's Bachman-Wilson House: At Crystal Bridges
Owner of the G. Curtis Yelland House (1910), by Wm. Drummond
Re: new book: FLW's Bachman-Wilson House: At Crystal Bridges
I have a couple of copies of this book

Provides a nice insight into the family, commission, construction and then relocation of the house.
Probably aimed at those who actually go to the Museum and want some sort of memento.
As a study of FLW house - its kinda disappointing - very few drawings, not many photos on how the house was put together - ie staging of construction and no indication of its lineage of a design i e linear.
mind you, considering the lack of other published information, it has been helpful in creating my 3D model of it.
Drawings can now be seen at Avery archives./ARTSTOR

other pojects of similar linear design include
Frank A. Rentz house (Madison, Wisconsin). Unbuilt Project 1940

Alfred H. Ellinwood house (Deerfield, Illinois). Unbuilt Project 1941

George Berdan house (Ludington, Michigan). Unbuilt Project 1945

Interesting. There aren't many instances of a nearly identical masonry core configuration being employed in different ways, I'd bet. Here, two houses have their stair located where, in the third, the dining table is placed . . .

Of course, Penfield belongs in the same lineage.
