Re: Should there be a new social media closed group for Wright?

“ BLM do nothing but scream, set fires, loot...”
I can't sit idly by with that statement.
That is NOT true. Those that resort to violence, looting, or destruction are a very small minority and not representative at all of BLM.

Words matter...use them carefully and accurately.

Re: Lake Geneva Frank Lloyd Wright look-alike demolished

Say what you will about the siting, massing, and formal composition of this house, but in terms of materials and assemblies and millwork, a long time will pass before we see this level detail and craft. That none of the cabinetry was salvaged is a sin.

Re: Archives to Avery Library/ Columbia University

The images in the link are photographs of the drawings taken at the FLW Foundation Archives years ago and saved as microfilm/microfiche at the Getty. These are the images one would receive in printed form from the Getty or the FLW Foundation when requesting copies of project drawings. The Avery has ...

Re: Archives to Avery Library/ Columbia University

Indeed it does...I typed Wright Hageman and found preliminary sketches and final CD’s for the unbuilt 1948 Arthur Hageman house. Hageman was the first version of the plan type Wright used for the Sweeton house...Schaberg was derived from this plan type as well, but the as built Schaberg version evol...

Re: Archives to Avery Library/ Columbia University

A fellow FLWBC board member shared this with me: The Avery Library has scanned and uploaded the black and white photos of many of the Wright drawings to Artstor in the Public Collections: https://library.artstor.org/#/collection/100116947 Because of copyright, the images cannot be downloaded but the...

Re: Louis B. Fredrick House- 1957

This house was on a FLWBC tour in the Spring of 2017. It is sited at an elevation considerably above the road with a significant amount of foliage between the house and road rendering it all but hidden from the road. I'd venture a guess that even with leaves off the trees, the house is not visible. ...

Thanks for finding the previous thread, David. I like having the threads tied together.
I tried a few search terms and nothing surfaced other than ET Casey's obituary thread.

Estes Park Visitors Center by E. Thomas Casey/TAA

I was surprised this visitors center, part of the NPS’s Mission 66 program, and now a national historic landmark in its own right, did not have a Chat thread. Designed by E. Thomas Casey of TAA, the building is constructed of conventional and CorTen steel framing clad with CorTen steel panel and pre...

Re: Davy Davison

This a new one to me:
https://tennesseemodernism.com/2020/10/ ... son-cabin/
A neat design to say the least, and apparently available for vacation rental.

It has a construction date of 1968-9...was this project on the boards at TAA during the tenure of Rood or wjsaia?

Re: Pearl Palace to undergo urgent restoration

One would hope $215,000 goes a little further in hyper inflation prone Iran than it does here. I'm supposing the work is primarily structural stabilization. I'm sending some screen captures I made some time ago from a Google Earth search for the Palace to SDR for posting. There appear to be out-buil...

Re: Article: Restored Arizona Biltmore Hotel - Phoenix, AZ

Looking at the lobby alterations from a functional perspective rather than an aesthetic one, the changes might be more related to how guests currently use the space rather than how it looks. The historic photos of the Biltmore lobby show groups of seating and occasional tables with lamps forming pla...

Re: Article: Restored Arizona Biltmore Hotel - Phoenix, AZ

The Arizona Biltmore is a collaboration between Albert Chase Mc Arthur (architect), Wright, and Warren McArthur (furniture and decorative fixture and metal design). Wright was brought in to consult on the use of the textile block system, and he did so, but he also would appear to have influenced the...
