I for one, like it. Is it pure FLW - no. Is it better than 99.999% of new houses being built today - YES. Someone mentioned the floor color...on my calibrated monitor they look correct. Someone mentioned the drywall/plaster. I'd like to see an occasional wood clad wall, but most usonians to me are t...

To add to Paul's reply above... There are going to be perhaps hundreds of things that are going to affect your trying to match a color from a photograph. Colors fade over time, then someone takes a photo; depending on the temperature of the light, the color is going to change. In post processing of ...

dkittum - so are FLW house better than others? What about Green & Green homes? What about Johnson homes? What about any other notable architect designed homes? What about van der Rowe houses? What about adding air-conditioning...surely that is sacreligious also. You can't have it both ways. You eith...

It's not an "exact similarity." It might be close, but it's not exact. How do you know....maybe FLW stole it from something Green designed first? Also, it might not be covered under any applicable copyright law as it could be considered a "derivative" work. And there's no sense in getting upset, bec...

Let's see...from personal experience... My former home in Roanoke VA, built in 1922 had steel colums in the basement supporting a steel beam which in turn supported the joists for the first floor. My former home in Birmingham AL, circa 1991 had an almost identical arrangement in the basement/garage....

Mark Hertzberg Lecture - Louisville
Just got back from the above lecture. It was very good. Mark is a great speaker, and his photos are magnificent.
If you get the chance to hear him speak, go.
Thanks Mark...
