It looks like the original stain color of the furniture and wood trim in the house was golden oak.

Frank Lloyd Wright, Complete Works Volume 1 Publication Date

While in Hamburg, Germany last week I stopped by the Taschen Bookstore and inquired as to when Frank Lloyd Wright, Complete Works, Volume 1 will be published. The sales person called the editor for me. It will be published in January 2011.

IMO they should leave the existing houses. They contribute to the context of the house and they are part of the story of the house. The houses around any FLW House are part of the story and need to be preserved.

The grandmother of a former employee of my firm bought the Husser Dining Room at a thrift store shortly after the house was demolished. They didn't realize what they had until the mid-seventies. It stayed in the family until the 90's when they sold it for a princely sum.

Remarkably Low Mortgage Interest Rate on Davenport Refinance

We just got approval for a 3.75% 10 year mortgage refinance on the Davenport House with no closing costs. That has to be close to an all time low for the last 60 years. The problem that FLW properties on the market in the Chicago area now face is that jumbo mortgages are very high if they are availa...

The Davenport House had a secret wall safe that was accessed through the side of a base cabinet. As expected it was empty.

"Less is More" is a polemic and very misleading. To create that image in great architecture, buildings by Mies van Der Rohe used incredibly precise and exquisite detailing. In general "Less is Less".
