This is great to hear Paul and is a wonderful recognition! Last week I presented in Canberra, Australia and learned Walter Burley Griffin designed the city. When you get to the highest point in the city, the view is beautiful! There is a recognition plaque for Griffin and one for Marion Mahoney. On ...

Archivist?

I received a contact from a gentleman in Wisconsin who worked closely with Wright in the role of salesman. He has many great stories about his work with Wright. Is there someone he should formally contact to document his experiences? Perhaps an archivist at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art? Or ...

I have seen articles and news clips about the house being moved. For now, the Van Bergen house will sit in an Evanston parking lot before the house is placed on a different site. I will celebrate the fact that it was not razed.

Thanks to the new owner for saving it!!!

Wright would have loved this, but would pretend he didn't. He pretended he did not like photos, pictures and busts of himself, but would willingly pose. A very fitting place for this tribute, can't wait to see it from the balcony of the hotel!

Thank you everyone for your kindness in providing information. I have found what I am looking for. Everyone on Wright Chat should read the descriptions of buildings in the Wasmuth Portfolio--Well worth it!

Everything I have read says there are 100 drawings in 2 portfolios of 50, so apologies if I am wrong. I have been trying to find the table of contents on the web, does anyone know of a web listing? Thanks

Does anyone know where there is a complete listing of the contents for the two Wasmuth volumes? I have been web surfing, finding much information about the portfolio, but nothing about the complete contents of house drawings.

Thanks!

A number of years ago, I went Christmas caroling along Forest Avenue In Oak Park with some Wright interpreters from the FLW Home and Studio. One of our stops was the Moore home. We were warmly invited in. Warm up your voices!

Paul: We restored the Mary Adams house in Highland Park, IL with the architectural leadership of John Eifler who I met during the early '90's when I volunteered to help out with the restoration of the Seth Peterson Cottage. Here is the link to the restoration on this site: http://savewright.org/wrig...

Just visited Meyer May and it was fantastic! The three volunteers who were at the house were gracious and wanted to hear about our restoration. There were a lot of similarties to our house in terms of design, layout, hardware, etc. This tour is one of the best free things left in our country. The Gr...

We went and visited the site where Midway Gardens was originally situated a year ago. It made us feel empty that everything was demolished. Wish we could have visited when it was thriving!

Thanks Ron for the information about the Christian Science religion at the turn of the century . It is interesting to know about the Coonley's. I knew Christian Science was considered progressive at the time. I agree with the idea that Wright was a great match for people who thought differently from...
