I've always liked the Walser/Barton/DeRhodes/Horner plan type. Barton was likely the most lavishly detailed and substantially built of the type. From the Walser NRHP Registration form: The Walser House became a template for some of Wright's other small homes of the Prairie period, including the K.C....

That may have happened. Possibly a verified instance of an error in the 1880 Census? Situations such as this may have led to the mailed census forms beginning in the 1960’s and the more explicit definition of the term “reside.

The first rendering gives the impression of two separate design languages: standard residential developer on the left, with modern earth sheltered concrete and butt joint glass to the right. Is this a single house with a split personality?

Just one more... Hoffman tried to drum up some engineering business for Porsche and introduced them to Studebaker. The rear engine Porsche Type 542 prototype for Studebaker was the result...needless to say, Studebaker did not proceed with production. https://56packardman.com/2016/07/05/gear-head-tue...

This house was on a FLWBC Post-Conference tour in 2016. It was perfectly designed and detailed; its siting and views were incredible (the drive up to it was a thrilling switchback); it was in immaculate condition. A masterwork of Green. Some pics from my visit (thanks to SDR for web hosting them): h...

That is the best article I've seen about Hoffman's auto marketing business. A large number of European car ads in Road&Track issues from the '50's and early '60's note Hoffman's address in NYC at the bottom of the ad.

It is Kelmscott. The Xerox copy may be a "back up" Scott Elliot (gallery owner) had on file of an original letter he used to own, or that encountered for possible acquisition. Any thoughts on the content of the letter? My take is that Drummond and Wright had a falling out...Drummond may ha...
