I've got a deep hatred toward the perpetrators of this. It cannot be overstated.

Although one might have good reason to be skeptical about North Carolina these days, the place does have some positive qualities.

Wish they would really do some work and post construction details of these houses. ha ha

Yeah, that makes sense to me. The entry "between the two principle structures" has to be pointed out as a key feature as well. That's right.

Right, I thought what he said about Utzon was funny ... clever and ironic or something like that.

Failing at Brutulism is nothing to be ashamed of.

Nice view of Johnson from Google maps. Cross axis very apparent. I'd forgotten about it's colored pavement. When I visited I think we came in north, entered the courtyard, walked around the tower, then under and into the hall before the main open office space, all in a straight line like you say. It...

Funny what he says about Utzon: a tragic lack of insensitivity made Utzon a failure at Brutulism.

I like that. You're right. This aspect of JWax is elusive from the ground.
You bring up the "served" and "servant" distinction. It's amazing to me. Just that one articulation had and has such a profound impact on modern architecture.

Just been looking at a Johnson Wax plan. I don't feel like I know that building as well as the others. I've been there once and it's a guided tour. One cannot go all over. But I do see what you mean. It is "bi-nuclear" But it seems that the other three are similar together in a way that th...

I'd group Oak Park Studio, Unity Temple and Guggenheim together in one distinct group. All the same building in a sense.

So it's a farm building. Cool, I was wondering what that was. So programmatically there is a bit if a distinction.

There is nothing here to give up. We're not arguing just exploring.
SDR, would you be interested in taking a crack at this?

Yeah, SDR. You make me think maybe to look at the "binuclear" comparison a little more critically. For example when is a bi-nuclear building, really a bi-nuclear and when is it simply two buildings or masses connected by an covered walkway.
Interesting question seems like.

"bi-nuclear" plan is how I've heard of this referred to, forget by whom. that did not occur to me in this case but now that you mention it -it seems true.

The more I look at that plan the more I like it although one bathroom for all those people does seem a bit forced. Yet the Livingroom is intriguing, would you say? I mean the glass occurs on the diagonal corners ...so there is this sort of diagonal axis that crosses the room, but most of the room is...

Obviously Wright knew them better than I did. I should read that book they wrote.
