Re: Video: Unity Temple's "Latecomers" entrance
Interesting tour, but, rather remarkably, it's almost exactly the route I took to enter the sanctuary, the cold, snowy Sunday after Christmas, when I arrived late. The fascinating thing is that our video guide "sat" almost exactly where I sat that Sunday morning. I was the only person on the balcony...

Re:
I can't answer those questions definitively (though I believe that Wright cared little for the idea of indefinite life of his built work), but it seems that few if any Usonians have had their exterior boards replaced -- yet that seems the inevitable route to long-term maintenance, for houses (the m...

Re: Video: 'How To See the Nakoma Memorial Highway'
One project that never got past a few brief thoughts was a '30's hotel for the Black Hills of South Dakota. In light of the death of the golf course project for Madison ... it's intriguing to believe Mr. Wright might have employed somewhat similar forms for the hotel, had the commission come through...

Re: Video: Garden Room at Taliesin West
At the start of the video at the left there's a shelf passing through a glass partition which has a hole in it. There was always a round vase or urn on the shelf intruding through the hole. Always assumed this unique detail was by Wright and curious about its absence. The "holes" in the glass parti...

Re: Black Bottom Pie
Indira suggested it might be a recipe attributed to Michael Sutton ... a copy of which is in a Taliesin cookbook. She sent a copy to me, but whoever typed the recipe left out 16 egg yolks! ... meant to be added to 16 cups of milk. I found the original of Michael's recipe on page 339 of a Betty Crock...

Is there any photos of the carport I've found 2 which give a hint of the framing ... and a interesting early image must have been a shock to the locals https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DtLmZcrUwAA-Vy1.jpg One possible "local" It has been 45 years, but if I correctly recall ... Re: Black Bottom Pie
Does anyone have the Taliesin recipe? There are recipes and there are recipes, but I have no memory of ever eating, much less making, a Black Bottom Pie at Taliesin. However, a favourite recipe book at Taliesin was the original Joy of Cooking ... probably the 1931 edition. Does it still exist? Mayb...

I'm a life-long Wright-o-phile who's never been to Arizona. Others will have to compare notes with you on that front. I would love an "immersive" experience in which even odors, room temperature, relative humidity, and air movement accompanied a full-color holographic---or physical---recreation of ...

I purchased the Getty Museum published book, Spirit into Matter-The Photographs of Edmund Teske, several years ago because it included photographs of Tony Smith, Tony's wife Jane Lawrence and Ted van Fossen that Teske took during their time together in Los Angeles. Two questions: Who is Davy Davison and are the photographs available to link to online? Google "Davey Davison and Frank Lloyd Wright" ... and they come up. There is also a photo of Davey with Mr. Wright ... standing in front of a fireplace ... I believe at Taliesin West ... in what was the original...
