He had a nice little office.
Note that the National Register paperwork does not state or imply that he worked with Wright; he was just a proponent of the style.

I don't bother reading that thread. I looked into it when it was first posted, and learned its true nature.

I prefer to keep politics off an architecture site, so I would vote "stop," but even if all the posts turned political I would merely avoid coming here.

Things I like about Alden Dow:
1. He used Wright's principles without trying to imitate Wright's designs
2. He experimented with materials - notably blocks made from cinder
3. Despite his use of organic architecture, he also believed in splashes of color to add excitement to his works

it reminds me of that unfortunate incident where a swimming pool mated with the Annie Pfeiffer Chapel

I see this as a business model that is failing financially - like a restaurant that asks patrons for donations to keep the lights on. Asking for a volunteer reveals an organization whose dreams exceed its budget.

I questioned the greying wood at Wingspread and was told in harsh terms that it was what was intended. I can accept green copper, but grey wood is unappealing.

Last week

Stan - you are right about Mary

The exhibit remains open to the public during normal business hours through August (the press release limited it to June). Photography is permitted.

The glare was strong - many of my pics show me about as well as they show the drawings

It is the Talbot Smith house. There are two drawings plus a floor plan displayed. These photos are from the Domino's collection.

He sure uses a lot of big words for someone who accuses Wright of being a narcissistic pontificator

just a quick note - it's called "Kentuck Knob," without the "y." I am constantly misspelling it because my fingers want to type the more familiar word.
