Re: Video: "Frank Lloyd Wright’s Design Process"
Thank you. One watches with trepidation architect after scholar after enthusiast presenting his (sorry, ladies; where are you ?) interpretation of Wright's words and works. Sometimes there are grimace-inducing reinventions of Wright's stated intentions; at other times we have fresh ways of looking a...

Re: Monuments to Futility
Is St Peter's Basilica late Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, or some combination thereof ? Consistency of material and of detail, as practiced by all worthy architects and certainly by Wright, is a characteristic that's bound to induce a sense of calm and confidence. Perhaps that's part of what he mean...

Re: Monuments to Futility
Most interesting. I wonder of the difference in perception of the two examples might have something to do with inclusion vs exclusion---in this case, of the unseen exterior surrounding the building. St Peter's lets in a little natural light, while some Gothic cathedrals admit much more. Tomb versus ...

Re: Video: Richard Neutra's Oyler House
That's a great video. From time to time we get a treatment of an architect and/or building that spends enough time, and results from enough research and the right sources, to really tell a story. This is one of those films. We learn about a house, and its owners, and its architect, at sufficient len...

Re: FOR SALE: Edmondson House (1978) by E Fay Jones
On my computer the top banner is for eyeglasses; the top right ad panel is blank; ad panels below that advertise Walgreens, an electric bike, an Apple product, and HBO Max---and for the Clarion Ledger. Returning to the page, I find a whole second selection of ads. Often, online advertising is aimed ...

Jackson Miss. is just one current example of deferred maintenance and unwillingness to solve a public problem---apparently. https://www.clarionledger.com/story/opinion/2022/09/01/water-crisis-opinion-by-jackson-ms-restaurant-owner-jeff-good/65466868007/ If this post is characterized by some as polit...

The town has assessed the property at 10% of its potential worth ? I wonder when the assessment was done.

Thanks, Hankoh ! You might be able to post a link to the Artstor file(s) in question ? It can be a long search to find what you did . . .

Re: Article: Taliesin - Unfinished Wing
Wrightdom---at least that cohort who are interested in everything having to do with Taliesin (or, after T West was established, Taliesin North, per Mr Wright in "The Natural House")---have Keiran Murphy to thank for her endless and ongoing explorations of the Spring Green stamping grounds ...

Re: The 8 Most Unexpected Places to See World-Class Architecture in the U.S.
Indeed ! Bliss and Banff might be the two most remote locations of Wright buildings ? Of those, of course, only one contains a standing example . . . When the real estate industry reaches the moon---and eventually Mars ?---I fully expect a Wright house to be found and extolled. By then, will there b...

That's a first: a bot-contrived rewrite (maybe) of an earlier post on the page (mine), with word substitutions, designed perhaps to evade some sort of filter at our end ? What's the world coming to . . .
