Amen Ed - Although I've always loved the visual appeal of the Prairie House best and in fact was considering building one (see earlier post) but you can't live in a museum and I keep coming back to a desire for a simpler, efficent, well sited, home. The Usonian was certainly FLLW's more mature desig...

This is the kind of article that makes me sick. The builder brags about energy efficiency and using resources wisely yet the home is almost 5000 square feet - give me a break. Just as people try to claim FLLW inspired to market their house incorrectly the same is being done with "green" architecture...

Prairie style home plans

We are considering building our first house. Unfortunately working with an architect is probably not in the cards. I have been trying in vain to find a good website that has prairie style plans modest in size <2500 sq. ft. Most of what is called prairie style is so far from it to the point of utter ...

Home on Antiques Roadshow

I just saw Antiques Roadshow and a woman had original drawings and correspondences that she inherited from her great grandmother who had built a FLLW home around 1907. They never said what house it was. Does anyone know what house it was?

While I am in complete agreement with Mr Harding I also am in complete agreement with Mr Reidy. Lets keep this site for what it was intended for.

We'll there are very few things in life where there is a #1 and even fewer where there are a #2 so I generally don't put much faith in these things. However, as an afficionado of the prairie style and residential architecture I will put in my two cents for my personal #2 favorite - Walter Burley Gri...

I personally don't think that there is such a thing as the greatest in any category but I would place Taliesin at the top of my personal list with Fallingwater and the Johnson Wax building also near the top. However, I have many great buildings I have yet to see.

Drummond House

Hard to believe that the Drummond house was recently available for a mere $240,000. I saw that a recently sold Griffin home in the neighborhood was around $425-450K.

Mason City Iowa

Early in my appreciation of FLLW I visited the Stockman house in Mason City not knowing of the several other significant buildings in the community. This past weekend I returned to Mason City and went on their self guided walking tour and enjoyed it thoroughly. What I am wondering is if there are an...

Thanks for the scoop on your early read. Makes me glad I've been outbid on ebay for both advanced reader copies that have recently appeared. Sounds like pure garbage to me.

For those who can't wait for the book to come out you can bid on one on eba. The item # is 4631269655. At its current price I think I can wait until it comes out this summer though.
