I am not a fan of the sanctuary but the other designs are nice enough. The student apartment is a great use of space and I like its "IKEA like" nature. Wish I could have lived in something like this when I was a student!

I wouldn't agree with the comment about Susanka - I see nothing Wrightian in her work and I think her message was and is a very timely one. I like her interiors - I was in her Dream House with all the frills and I found it to be very warm and intimate - a beautiful space.

RJH - I like the simplicity of the Salerno house's exterior - it would be interesting to see interior photos or the floor plan. Here is a link to an architect I quite like - specifically the Strom house and his own personal home http://www.salaarc.com/frameset.html?logo.html&davisscroll.html&project...

Defining middle class...... that's a term that even the so called experts don't agree on. As for me I did not post this question because I want to build - I am satisfied for now remodeling my somewhat commonplace but extremely livable 50's ranch. My interest in architecture is residential and I pref...

I'm aware that sometimes this was a disaster that nearly ruined the client but there are those like Pope Leighey, Goetsch Winkler, and Jacobs 1 where I believe he didn't strain the clients resources as much. Anyways that is beyond the point of my question so I will state it again. Are there any grea...

Residential architects building smaller affordable houses

One of the things I admire about FLLW was his interest in building affordable beautiful homes for the middle class. Are there any great architects doing this today?

Has anyone seen this DVD about FLLW in Japan? I would be interested in your opinions on this. Steve - I did see your review on Amazon.

Mr. Grant

Please tell more about Murray Grigor's documentary and why you think it is better than Ken Burns. I see it is only available on VHS and I am debating if it is a worthwhile purchase. Thanks in advance.

I like it too - a very good knock off I think - it looks very livable. My only objections would be what looks like too much lawn and the planting of what appears to be spruce trees - but that is a personal thing. Thanks for the posting.

About a year ago there was a posting about FLLW's ugliest building. It seems when I offered the Marin Civic Center there was much agreement. That blue roof amongst other things is a real turn off for me. I think its a shame the list doesn't include one usonian - but then too I am a house guy. As for...

GA Books and Monographs

I occasionally see FLLW Global Architecture books and FLLW Monographs on EBAY. The prices are prohibitive for me to buy them. Therefore I am curious on what they have that makes them so desirable? Someone please enlighten me!

He certainly enjoyed playing the piano but I have never read if he was any good. Jesu Joy of Mans Desire was a favorite and he even came up with a variation on it entitled something like Joy in Work is Man's Desire. It seems there is also a story that when an apprentice played Vivaldi for him he was...

I am curious why you would have left Taliesin off this list?
