The view is still there spring, fall and winter when the trees have no leaves. You can see for miles to the East, South and West. All the trees have grown a little over 73 years and block most of the view in summer. But the freeway or the freeway wall have nothing to do with blocking the view.

Originally the walls were colored plaster similar to Taliesin, but after the plaster dried the Willeys were unhappy with the blotchy uneven color so they had the walls painted a light tan (oil base) before any trim or cabinets went in. Since then the walls have been painted a few more times. Now the...

RJH - You are correct the shelving is solid Cypress so mitering is the better option. On the Willey house tables they used Cypress veneer on 1" plywood then used a locking miter on the top and mullion that has stayed tight for 73 years. lucky? On the large cabinets sides they used 3/4 Cypress veneer...

All of the joints on the Willey house furniture original or the reproductions have the miter joints . The Willey house has miter joints for all corner joints throughout the house, that includes cabinets or 14' long shelf with a 2" face some are locking miters some are not. This was specified by Wrig...

As a craftsman that has built some reproduction furniture for the Willey House (www.thewilleyhouse.com). I know first hand how the cost can add up. We used all old growth tide...

I'm sure RJH has a backbone since he's patting himself on the back most of the time , attacking people the rest of the time. I belive he called me a labor hack that should -- ---- myself or something like that. Its great that RJH has built furniture for the Haynes house but to say he saved the Hayne...
