True, but a different floor and you'd really have something here. Says "built by associates of Frank Lloyd Wright." Wonder what they mean by that?

Hmm. I've frequently used kindling on top of logs to draw the flames upwards through the logs, but I've never experienced any reduction in smoke that I'm aware of.

This Jones house has popped up before, and it suffers from light blue paint (a malady I'm too familiar with), but this seems a really good price. Perhaps because it has lake views, but possibly not lake access? Because only two bedrooms? 2,700 square feet is not small. 99 pictures, but almost all of...

Similar in appearance to Thorncrown Chapel, Cooper Chapel was built in Bella Vista in 1988. It recalls the "Prairie" style of architecture, made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright. Fay Jones was a pupil of Wright.

I'm assume these two end tables that David posts here look at home in the house. They are not my favorite Wright tables, however. They look unusually heavy and conventional. Maybe it's that back piece, which would read much differently if the table were meant to back up against a wall?

I believe that Mr. Shank has been an admirable advocate for his father's architecture. I remember seeing him at an open house for one of his father's other buildings. He had no financial incentive as far as I know, but was there to answer questions and talk about his father's work to potential buyer...

Sitting at the corner of Olive and 8th street puts the building a couple of blocks from the current convention center, and a few blocks from the Washington Avenue district, which is the most vital and energetic part of downtown STL. There has been a lot of building and growth in that part of the cit...

Too true. You have to associate with the rock stars.

On the other hand, could you picture some of those Baumann prints in a southwest usonian like Boomer or Pauson (back in the day)? They would be quite comfortable.

Also--wasn't Karen Johnson's house designed with art display in mind? I don't have any internal photos, but I remember that she is a collector, and the house is/was filled with some really lovely pieces.

Hi ModMom-- We have pocket doors in our master bedroom, use necessitated by an extremely narrow hallway, which must accommodate bedroom entrance, closet entrance, and entrances to two bathrooms. The light shelf (light cove) appears to run continuously through the bedroom wing, and the track for the ...
