Here is the promised link from the City of Rockford. Sorry this is a giant document but the section to focus on runs from page 138 through 161. If you want to see the plans of the grounds, they appear on page 151 and 152. Here is the link: http://rockfordcityil.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=1...

The Rockford City Council has now approved the Annexation and Special Use Permit for The Laurent House Visitor Center - if you click on the link in Paul's post above, there is an updated version (see the last sentence of the text of the article). Later on today I will post a link to some of the City...

Oboler

FWIW, I recently read "Frank Lloyd Wright on the West Coast" by Mark Anthony Wilson which was published in 2014. The section on Oboler states that "In 1996, Dorothy and John Knight bought the Oboler Compound".

Oboler

If you navigate to this website: https://maps.geointel.org/app/gic-public and input the address for Oboler (32436 West Mulholland Highway) into the "Find Address or Place" box you can see the extensive damage. There is a split screen which lets you see the before image in the RH pane. You can pan ar...

Ran into this PDF tonight while looking for information on one of FLW's grandsons (using Google search). This is from flwright.org but I could not find it on my own by going to that website: http://flwright.org/ckfinder/userfiles/files/FLW-Genealogy.pdf Notice that Mr. Wright is listed as Frank Lloy...

Thanks to SDR (as always) for posting the pictures above. I toured Bradley about a year ago on a slow Friday so I had essentially a private tour. You can pay a bit extra (don't remember if it was 5 or 10) to take interior photos. First picture is the front of the house from the lawn. Second photo is...

For the 2012 Wright and Like (Spring Green), I was a docent at the Forseth Residence (2008) which was designed by Floyd Hamblen and Charles Montooth. The owner of the house had 2 of the Riverview Terrace chairs. The docent notes (which I finally found today) state that "the two chairs in the Living ...

Thanks to SDR (as always) for posting the pictures. The top one was taken in May 2016 in a side room at the restaurant. They probably use this room for banquets or meetings. Note there are two styles of chairs (you can also see this in the TripAdvisor picture) - one style with sides and one without....

My wife and I had lunch at Riverview last Memorial Day weekend. Yes the chairs sit low but are rather comfortable once you are in them. Not to mention the river view (and a rather tasty artisan grilled cheese sandwich). The Laurent House has 6 chairs of the same design (without casters) that the fam...

The Pew House (S.273) was part of Wright and Like in Madison in 2015. I was a docent and the organizers sent an article to help us prepare. I was able to find the article online and picture 6 of the Gallery clearly shows the 1/4" gaps in the living room floor which allow the radiant heat to perform ...
