Re: Should there be a new social media closed group for Wright?

Stan- Doesn’t your site allow sharing photos of others as long as credit is given? It does, with the caveat that the usage is in support of some sort of point you are trying to make about the architecture. We try to stay away from "pictures for pictures sake" unless they're your own shots, and you'...

Re: Should there be a new social media closed group for Wright?

"Post only those photos, drawings, renderings, etc you personally took or have permission from the creator to use." I was surprised to find this as the second item in the Group Rules at the facebook Wright Attitude public page. Of course this would be a prudent move from a legal perspective. I wond...

Re: Should there be a new social media closed group for Wright?

Maybe it is truly best for me to be in the shadows the way I have always been. Sometimes having an artist heart is not a good thing. I understand. I do still hope there will come a day when you can rejoin us, for your, mine, and the group's benefit. Even if you don't, I have some projects for the W...

Re: Should there be a new social media closed group for Wright?

Forums such as WrightChat are a wonderful vehicle for research, with their dedicated, titled threads that can be archived and searched. Not everyone wanders the internet, though, and there’s a place within the confines of social media for a group dedicated to the ongoing appreciation of all things W...

Re: Article: 18 U.S. Icons That Are Falling Apart

The folks behind the Wright Revival Initiative made a number of brave statements regarding their potential support of the site, but I don't believe any of them moved beyond potential.

What directional differentiations are there between Los Angeles and San Diego? Is SD the "Deep South"?
Depends who you ask - SD is either our latest suburb, or the Neutral Zone ... :D

Both of those houses are just spectacular in their simplicity and respect of site. I was fortunate enough to tour and shoot Frey II last year, and Cree last weekend.

The problem, of course, is the technological gap between now and then. 25-yr-old software won't run on any computer any of us own, and what passed for "high-resolution" in 1995 is but a thumbnail today ...

In this past Wednesday's docent training session, Jeffrey Herr followed my presentation on Wright's timeline with his own on the house as it was in 1924. In it, he had a new image of the original end table attached to the reproduction couch, with the reproduction end table sitting alongside. You cou...

It's actually been up for the better part of a year; I think it's just now getting press. Not sure where they get their numbers on records, but it's currently 81 different architectural drawings of the house, Res A and B, and other related elements. The original blueprint used during construction wa...

It's spectacular, alright - and it was on the Conservancy's tour agenda last fall. I think the house today is best described by this Bestor quote from the article: "‘The best way, in my opinion, was to not be faithful to the original at all costs, but to follow the natural connection between m...
