Small point, but when I visited this house c. 1963, the ceilings and soffits were unpainted sand float plaster. They has a texture and color far superior to what we see today.

You may be thinking of "Stairway Walks in San Francisco" by Adah Bakalinsky. Or "Urban Trails: SF" by Alex Kenin; or "Walking SF" by Tom Downs. There are others also. Adah Bakalinksy's book is the best know, having been around in one version or another for decades.

Congratulations Todd on your about-to-be new life in the Richardson House. I was fortunate to spend an afternoon with Elizabeth (Mrs. Stuart) Richardson in the house in 1962. And from the recent photos online, I can only say this marvelous house has only gotten better!
