Final Chair

I finally got my act together and had the chair upholstered. I think it turned out pretty good. Planning on another. Will dial in the process a little bit.

Ah, that's ok. I'll take your word for it. I'll update once I take the next step. I have some solid ideas for moving forward on the next chair. Thanks for the input.

Sorry, I meant lower right. You can see why I might have a struggle on my hands making a chair when I can't tell the two apart. : )

SDR, I am curious about the measurements in the lower left corner of your scanned Drawing. Is there any way you can scan or crop a detail of that to make it readable? I have two drawings, both are from Howe's collection and contained some cut lists, but neither had what appear to be the detail inclu...

Interesting comments about the arms. I hadn't looked back at the other pics for a while, but since you pointed it out I see what you mean. The width of the arms actually work OK, but the steep angle and the termination point so close to the cushion are an issue I will seek to remedy in my next chair...

Chair project.

I posted on this subject regarding these chairs a while back. I tracked down the plans in Minnesota (as suggested on this forum), got materials and went after it. First problem was cutting all these jacked up angles (furniture building is at best a hobbie for me). BTW the Howe plans are cool to look...

The chair weighs a ton without those additional goodies I assure you. I was able to hide the screws pretty effectively (or they will be once the cushions are in place) and used braces under the seat to support it AND hold the various parts together. I'll post a picture and some more about my process...

If you are referring to the drawings of the chair. they aren't listed. you have to call, specify what was listed above in this forum and they will email you a link to a scan you can download. Cost me $15.

taking a shot

So, I contacted the college and got copies of the plans for the chair as suggested by chris. As a mostly novice wood worker this presented quite a challenge. First of all the plans leave some room for guess work (on miters especially) and so I have just finished the second of what I am calling my pr...
