Craig's photo #2 of Notz shows the unusual front entry. A single car carport was originally behind that stone planter, right next to the front door. The carport was enclosed in the 80's to make an office area, and a new carport was added adjacent. The planter was added to tie it together.

No, the lots are all rectangular. The Notz house sits next to two vacant lots that are not part of its parcel. If someone builds on them, the house will lose its view.

The house is in the Meadows Circle development, which has the Notz house by Cornelia Brierly across the road from this one (later expanded by Berndtson), and another Berndtson house at the end of the road. This is the best preserved / best floor plan of the bunch. $425K is a lot for the area.

It appears the location of the fire was the TV room / hobby room (as noted on the plan and matching to the news photos).

It appears this room was combined into the bedroom #1 post-fire.

It's the bedroom in the real-estate photos with no cabinetry and little detailing (and apparently no closet).

The Santa Cruz public library has a clipping file on all of this, with scans online. The doctor who commissioned the house was one of the clients for the Water Street Medical Complex, also by Green, in Santa Cruz. After the fire, the house reverted to the mortgage holder, Wells Fargo, who attempted ...

Sadly the Gonzalez house was demolished last year. I think it was the only Kamrath work that Shulman photographed. Maynard Parker photographed Kamrath's own house. It's still intact and is being restored after Hurricane Harvey. http://houstonmod.net/bldg_detail.asp?id=26&by=arch&seled=MacKie%20and%2...

Hanna House Tour

Thanks for posting this reminder. I had a great tour on Saturday the 10th of June with new guide Mary. She was very knowledgeable about the house and really let our group enjoy the spaces.

Highly recommended! :D

This is a wonderful house. I do agree that for the most part, it wants and needs nothing, with the exception of some of the flooring, backsplashes, and countertops. Could that hacienda style tile be original? The wood deck with the built in benches is one of many inviting touches... No the tile is ...

For Sale: Karl Kamrath's Ballantyne Residence - Houston, TX

Oilman George Mitchell was the source of several commissions for the MacKie and Kamrath office. This 1961 house was for Mitchell's sister and her large family which included 7 children. The large family made for large bedrooms, a large family space and a large kitchen. The sellers are the original o...

Re: For Sale: Karl Kamrath's Gonzalez Residence

Part of a grouping of houses by Kamrath on Tiel Way. One was demolished 2-3 years ago. It was also designed for a couple without children, so it was difficult to find a buyer for a multi-million dollar house with only 2 bedrooms. So, based on the history you linked, the one demo'd was the architect...

I recently walked around Wells' complex for the RCA Company in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It is now a multi-tenant office complex. It's very Wrightian in it's long horizontal lines.

It's pictured here. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/15031169 ... ardens-FL/
