Paul's question deserves an answer in depth. I'm not aware of a comprehensive history of the Hillside Theater. If the story has been told, with illustrations, I would be interested to see it. Perhaps Keiran Murphy has written on this; perhaps someone else has assembled the material.

Re: Hugo Avila's Wright Renders
What you are showing there is a compilation of perf designs, not all to the same scale, which was assembled either by Palli Davis Holubar, whose work on the subject of the Usonian perfs led the way in this pursuit, or by our member Jay, who pursued the study in his own way, subsequently. What that i...

Re: Any Recognize this Usonian Window
That all makes perfect sense to me. The remaining question would be, how many perf designs are known to be Wright's work ? Did he often, or ever, delegate that task, along with many others, to the apprentices as led by Jack Howe et al ? Roderick is one of the few who own the Monographs which contain...

Re: Any Recognize this Usonian Window
My favorite perf design is the unrealized one for the Goetsch-Winckler house. On various elevation drawings can be seen three images of perfs (if you include some exceptionally messy scribbled-in placeholders), while an isolated fourth, not found on a drawing, was cut into the face of the tool locke...

Re: Any Recognize this Usonian Window
Dan, I need help interpreting this sentence: "It is theorized the exhibition house perfs may have been fabricated before the exhibition house was cancelled, possibly explaining why the as designed Christie perfs were not made and installed."

Re: Any Recognize this Usonian Window
Dan provides documentation of the perfs that were originally installed at Christie. He also found the elevation drawing of the perf design on the Christie CDs, which I missed. The perfs sketched on the elevation drawings can be seen to relate to the perf as shown on the sheet; the tilted rectangle o...

Re: Any Recognize this Usonian Window
Bravo. The Christie drawings at Artstor do not include a perf drawing, unfortunately, but an elevation sheet does indicate perfs, with a place-holder design sketched in. Here is the perf drawing for the New York Exhibition House, from "The Show to End All Shows" (© 2004, The Museum of Modern Art): h...

Re: Light variation
Early photos of the Hillside theater are almost non-existent, apparently, and latter-day photographs seldom capture one of these lights. (The history of the presence, and perhaps the replacement, of these lights has yet to be written ?) One photo however can be compared to the 1933 drawing of the no...

Re: Light variation
There are numerous versions of the Wright pole lamp; I have not yet determined when and where the first one appeared. Neither David Hanks (1979) nor Diane Maddex (1999) treats it; Thomas Heinz give us this picture of one at the Lloyd Lewis house, and mentions others at the Smith and Lovness residenc...

I look forward to seeing what you've made, Gordon. If others besides me have trouble accessing them at Google Drive, you may certainly send me your images for posting.

Re: Hugo Avila's Wright Renders
Brewer plans and elevations. I see that the "lower-level bedroom" I mentioned is actually a workshop. It would be wonderful to be able to walk around inside this plan. The entry sequence needs to be explained and experienced, for instance. http://sdrdesign.com/BrewerPlan1.jpg http://sdrdesign.com/Br...

Re: Hugo Avila's Wright Renders
Bravo !! Great video; only four long shots, the last one a grand take all the way around the house---an example for other video-makers to learn from. I like the way the house is set into, and grows from, its inspiring rocky setting; the drive-thru car shelter with unpaved parking and a forest path b...

Re: Hugo Avila's Wright Renders
Goody. I hope Hugo will send me some views so I can post them here. It will be interesting to see how much is in the drawing file on the project.
