I've exchanged several emails with his son who currently lives in Mexico if memory serves. He seemed very interested in selling both plans and some of his father's original artwork (he sent me some photos of paintings of animals such as deer - I wasn't personally interested). He does own copies of m...

Robert Green's Gould House
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1147/4600550113_d36e13da50.jpg I recently had the good fortune to view the Gould House, designed by Wright Fellow Robert Green. I took tons of photos and wrote up a short bit about it in my blog: http://modusmodern.blogspot.com/2010/05/robert-greens-gould-house.html T...

Apprentice House in Montgomery AL
I was sent this listing in Montgomery, AL (it's a real estate listing and I'm not the seller). I thought about the similarity of this house to some of Robert Green's designs and upon further research, it turns out the architect Dean Vollendorf is/was indeed a Wright Fellow - sort of Alabama's versio...

Images uploaded here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14338634@N02/sets/72157603003163021/ Completed organizing them (one superfluous) - I ended up disqualifying about a dozen due to poor exposure so there's only 90 or so. Some of the shots I did through the windows were pretty bad - I guess we weren't...

I thought I would chime in and give you my impressions. I'm still digesting everything that I saw and experienced, but do want to get some things "on paper" while they're still fresh. I haven't had time yet to get my photos online, but I believe I took over 100. Here's a list of thoughts, in no part...

I swung by there way back when I used to travel between a home in Atlanta and one in Pompano (I worked for a record label and alternated between Florida, Atlanta, Austin and Nasville) - I really didn't have the appreciation of FLW then as I do now - at the time I wasn't too impressed (it was in a fa...

I haven't visited the Donges house, but have extensively studied photos - I'm hosting some here: http://www.modusmodern.com/robertgreen/donges.asp There's another RG structure not too far from Donges that's not listed on the old RG site - I'm trying to get more information on the structure - basical...

I think the Copeland house exemplifies many FLW concepts, while the Arrow Head house extends some of Robert Green's own ideas - the extended acute angle of the roofline in the 'point' for instance. It's difficult to relate via the photographs, but many of FLW's design principles are still present - ...

There are some other similarities between the Hayes House and Arrow Head - they both feature a corner glass room - though the Arrow Head house makes this the "point" of the arrow and slopes the roofline upwards at the corner. There are many other aspects of this house that are different enough from ...

They aren't exactly the same - I rather believe that the apprentices were expected to copy elements to some extent so I'm not at all surprised. RG did go to some lengths to incorporate some of his own ideas into Organic Architecture - some worked well while others were less than successfull (certain...

2007 DOCOMOMO Home Tour - Part 1
I thought I would provide some photos from the DOCOMOMO Home Tour yesterday. http://www.modusmodern.com/seeker/DSC01254.jpg Of particular interest to this group will be the Copeland House and Arrow Head in Amberwood (both on the tour). The Copeland House was build in 1960 and was the first home desi...
