Re: Sure, we can call anything "Frank Lloyd Wright"

This one is not too shabby at all. Not sure who might be behind this one, it doesn't quite match up with the grammar of some of the regional suspects... the fireplace is very Michael McGuire/Kelly Davis-like, but it's much more rustic and "Prairieish" from what I expect from them. https://www.zillow...

Very Nice John Howe Residence in Inver Grove Hts MN For Sale

John Howe's home designed in the mid-1980's for the Rachac family in Inver Grove Heights, MN is now for sale. I remember when this house was being built, I was in high school and a good friend of mine lived right across the street from it. Hope it becomes loved by good new stewards. Enjoy! https://w...

The house in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota (my hometown) was designed by architect Tod Drescher. It really is a nice house, and Tod has done some really nice work, he'd be the first to tell you that the FLLW comparison are the realtor's words, not his own. http://www.drescherarchitecture.com/index....

I have been unable to locate any information as to what the real world costs have been for the recent moves and reconstruction of Wright homes that one could benchmark the potential cost of disassembly, relocating, and reconstructing Mäntylä- I would think the Duncan or Bachman Wilson house projec...

The tornado damage was especially unusual & ugly in that it hit the urban residential core of Minneapolis, as did the 2008 "Republican Convention" tornado, but this one was much more destructive. North Minneapolis, while not home to any FLLW or "significant" architectural structures, has a number of...

I get testy at times. No offense meant to anyone. My perspective is that today, 50+ years after FLLW's passing, we're watching the end of an age where architects who actually studied under Wright are becoming more rare as time marches on. Anyone who "gets it" today deserves their work to be highligh...

Yep. Definitely a crap house. I hope the owners donate it to the City of Dallas and let the fire department burn it down for practice. Then, maybe a nice French Colonial can be erected on this prime piece of property. I'm far from being Rattenbury's #1 Fan, but, I've seen this house in person and it...

I offer this information to keep facts accurate, not to nitpick  The house that is the subject of this thread is the Klapmeier residence. And, this is far from being Howe's last built design. An original design from 1988 was built on its intended lot for original clients in St. Paul, MN after ...

Eric, isn't this a remodeling by Howe of a standard construction lake cabin to bring the elevations down to Wrightian scale, and give it Taliesin inspired trim? Quite pleasant, perhaps a lesson on this type of transformation. 10-4, Doug. You're correct. The realtor for this property is actually awa...

Actually, this has been for sale for a few months, and, it looks like they raised the price! It's a really neat house, I've been inside. It's worth the price. With the destruction of the Wear residence (by Howe) on the eastern end of Lake Minnetonka this past week, and my passionate interest in Howe...

Okay obviously now I am hurting. I wish I could of afforded this piece and moved up there to save it. I like the bedroom. Some say "It is small" but actually it looks larger than my room ( 10 by 14) I like the wall of Doors as well no lack of storage. (Special note: in all of the non-primary doors,...
