Its Zeigler See the attached for the 1910 Census and the 1912 Frankfort City Directory, which spell it with the e before the i. Apparantly Rev. Zeigler did not live in the house very long, since he lived and died in Chicago in 1920. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e350/jeffrichardson/Zeigler/1912%...

Yes, the screens are mounted to the interior of the sash, and open inward, making for some awkward hardware conditions on the corner windows. But it works. I believe they now match the sash. Perhaps someone who has seen the house recently can answer. At one point, I don’t recall the date, Edg...

Regarding the screens, when I first saw the house in 1967 they were a factory grey, kind of a galvanized color, and remained so for many years. I’m not sure when they were changed, but Edgar Jr. made all design decisions regarding the house up until his death.

That is from the early or mid 1980’s, as I recall. A tree had fallen in a storm and took out the trellis. It was repaired fairly quickly.

Matt, If you read the Prospectus, you will see that the exterior walls were shipped as panels, with sheathing, siding and windows installed. Interior surfaces were not pre-installed to allow for electrical work. Of course, the wall sections had to be limited to a dimension that would fit a trailer, ...

I obtained these marketing materials from the Erdman company in the 1960's, after they had discontinued the Wright models. Matt wrote: I have always thought Wright should have operated his own pre-fab factory. But it should have been a panel system where wall panels (some with windows) would have been factory made and trucked to a site. Actually, the Erdman prefabs were produced as panelized wall sections as Matt descri...

The space is called the Kiva in the Taliesin West Preservation Master Plan, and is discussed and illustrated on pages 174 through 179. Yes, those are recessed floor lights, and per the master plan text must have been original. I believe they appear on a plan in the Appendix, page 597, although not i...

Those brick drawings were still part of the curriculum when I attended IIT in the 1970's. Yes, the 120 hour perspective was done in ink, on a non-erasable illustration board. One smudge and start over. The roof construction was a reinforced brick slab (unlikely), but we always drew running bond, not...

There were a theater and a cabaret in the Imperial Hotel. Wasn’t there a motion picture theater project for California at about the same time as Midway Gardens? Then there was the Michael Todd theater prototype in the 1950’s. If amphitheaters count, there was one proposed lakeside at F...
