You left out Oregon's deco version of a capital dome. The only state capitol that could be a bowling trophy (I say that as a lifelong Oregonian with a soft spot in my heart for that building's modest aesthetic aspirations). https://www.argsf.com/blog/the-golden-pioneer-preserving-the-oregon-state-c...

Re: Did Wright make his wives walk behind him?

I spoke to a female member of the board of the Quincy and Adams County Historical Society in Quincy, Illinois last weekend, at a fundraising auction and sale of lithographs from a copy of the Wasmuth Portfolio. I was the guest speaker, bringing my PowerPoint talk on "Building Taliesin." She said to...

Re: Grew up near the studio

...about a 1/4 mile west of it, and I never knew what it was until 4 years ago. Used to wait for the bus for school about 30 feet from the drive entrance. I'm writing an article on jazz greats and Northern New Jersey now, which brought me here. Mr. Van Gelder still lives there, I think, and his add...

David Henken's Rudy Van Gelder studio in New Jersey

I've been reading a little about this building and its place in jazz history. Designed by Wright protege David Henken and constructed in 1958/59. I've read that Henken considered it one of his best. The couple of color interior photos I've seen of the studio show a red concrete floor slab, very Uson...

Re: Bruce Goff's PlayTower in Bartlesville Restored

The Sooner Park Playtower, a gift to the city of Bartlesville from Mary Lou Price, and designed by Bruce Goff in 1963, was recently restored and re-erected. See article and pics here: http://www.prairiemod.com/prairiemod/2014/11/dedicating-goffs-restored-play-tower.html and http://www.kjrh.com/bart...

We shouldn't hesitate to give him full acknowledgement. If Wright is an Architect (despite never pass...

Taliesin "survivor"?

Taliesin "survivor" seems like a strange way to put it. It's not like Taliesin was Pearl Harbor or Bataan.
