Image Archive
Ran across this site with an extensive, if uneven, image catalog on the work of Wright, Sullivan and many, many others.

peterm- early mies shows a strong wrightian influence (barcelona pavillion, the unrealized brick country house, etc.) but late mies seems to be diametrically opposed to wright. it's as if instead of destroying the box he has decided to celebrate it as the ultimate pure form only to be reduced to it'...

Robie gates
The solid portions can not be original. Indeed they can be original. There are several clear period photos as well as a drawing, presumably from Wright's office, showing the solid portions shaded, reproduced in Donald Hoffmann's "Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House: The Illustrated Story of an Archite...

Lanai
From the book "Affordable Dreams": "Alma Goetsch, who admitted to 'having a few qualms about moving to the country,' added a postscript in which she asked Wright to 'make my bedroom give me a feeling of security'.... The two bedrooms open out onto a lanai, a type of enclosed courtyard or open-sided ...

Unbrook- The 'pass through' shown in photo EL15 is one of six storage shelves located off the gallery adjacent to the first bedroom. Note the pattern in the rug in this photo and the same rug in photo EL42. Perusing the book "Affordable Dreams" reveals that the two double doored closets shown in thi...

What is in it? A nice graphic design by Wright on the cover, followed by a Bogartesque photo of 'himself' about to light a Camel, or whatever his favorite brand was. Then, in the center of the magazine, the 102 pages on FLlW . The contents: Foreward Taliesin III: Home and Workshop of FLlW . 1911-38...

SDR- You're welcome. Aren't Broadacres and Usonia pretty much interchangable? I know Usonia is Wright's term for the United States of North America, but isn't that the USA as he envisioned it, not as it really was in his, or our, time? Wouldn't Broadacres have had to be implimented to arrive at Uson...

Though I can't cite book and verse, I believe this design was created as Wright's response to the International Style minimalism being touted by Phillip Johnson and Henry Russell Hitchcock in the runup to their 1932 MOMA show. It was displayed at this show along with the work of young turks Corbu, G...
