Re: WBG's Blythe House is NOW on the market
"The Prairie School" by H. Allen Brooks, pages 254-5, with an early photo of the principal exterior and the floor plan, indicates the enclosed veranda on the main level, with 9 square skylights, was built as designed in 1913. "Mason City, Iowa, An Architectural Heritage," pg 55, with a later view fr...

Re: New photos from Wingspread

Re: WBG's Blythe House is NOW on the market
Which would you prefer: 1) The Blythe House in Mason City, with 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, 4394 sf, 1.95 acres with park view, for $475K and a few months of blustery weather... or 2) a 1 bedroom 1 bath, 500 sf condo, with a view of a parking lot and a gas station in West Hollywood - with permanent drought...

Re: Sure, we can call anything "Frank Lloyd Wright"

George Maher Blinn House goes public.
The only Maher building on the West Coast, which has long been used by the Women's City Club of Pasadena as their private headquarters, has been gifted by the club (which dissolved last year) to Pasadena Heritage. This may make the house more open to the public. Why such an event matters? The house ...

Re: Light variation
Geiger was obsessed with Hillside. He made many drawings of it, and wrote about it. I never saw much of this, but assume it has gone to U of M with the rest of his archive.

Re: Any Recognize this Usonian Window
Turner, as builder of Christie, would not have had anything to say about siting. That was Christie's choice, apparently.

Only volumes 11 (Preliminary Studies 1933 - 1959) and 12 (In His Renderings 1887 - 1959) would include images specifically of the perfs, and there are none.

Re: Any Recognize this Usonian Window
G/W proves that, however delightful they may be, perfs are not necessary. Christie and Baird are also sans perfs and delightful. Perfs were not even intended for Baird. On the other hand, while perfs were intended for Brandes, it was built without them; they were added much later. In this case, I be...

There was a sizable stack of Storer blocks behind Lloyd's own house, but he never used them in that residence.
