Re: Chahroudi / Massaro residence on Petre Island

Though not terminating in a prow, perhaps the cantilevered terrace for the Joseph Brewer Project (Taschen 326), a version of Chahroudi, would come closer to pleasing you, Juan? Also, the Chahroudi plan in Taschen 229 is slightly different from the one SDR has posted. Looks like something else is go...

I don't know if you use sketchup, but there is a beautiful and complete 3d model in 3d warehouse.

Re: Article: FLW Foundation releases line of children's furniture

Because of the comparative designs, I would contend that Hickox must have preceded Willits, though not by much. Hickox is a "poor man's" DD Martin, while Willits is a "rich man's" Davenport. SDR, the laylight at the end of the Willits dining room is not a fixture, it is the laylight for a skylight ...

Re: Chahroudi / Massaro residence on Petre Island

Roderick wrote that Jester as designed "is practically a pool house." There's nothing wrong with it---as long as the house is built where a pool would be suitable and desired. We have to take Wright as we find him. The plan shape of the Chahroudi terrace is a quirk that makes the house particularly...

Re: Article: FLW Foundation releases line of children's furniture

That's the way I see it. But others like Bradley and Hickox, or even Davenport, for that honor. We like categories; nature abhors them ? Some versions of an original floor plan show the ceiling of that glowing terminus to the dining room with something like a diagonal-square laylight, presumably re...

Some pics taken by me before the house was completed. Enjoy!

I really hate the living room terrace. That geometry so weird, so irregular, so ugly. It only needs a regular form like the prow of a ship as he did in other houses.

Re:

There is a difference between quibbling over minor details (especially those made while FLW was still living) and accepting wholesale alterations that change the entire nature of the thing. It is not just the "site" of Jester that was changed, but the "environment." Jester started as the Pense Proj...

Re: The Illinois 'Mile-High' Tower Architectural Model

The text in Taschen III begins, "In 1956, Wright was asked to design a mile-high television tower. Believing a mile-high tower for television transmission alone was a wasted opportunity, he responded with a mile-high skyscraper." Also: "Does a church steeple sway in the wind ? No, because the wind ...

And a couple of chair "elevators" for Willits, as seen at left and right in this photo: But it's the later period where we've seen no childrens' pieces---that I can recall . . . S What a shot...!! So beautiful... Willits is one of my favorites of all time and could we say that Willits is the first ...

I'll recap the display of plans, add the elevation drawings, and post Pfeiffer's and Storrer's texts.

Re:

Dr. Bulbulian built an addition on the east side of the house in the 1950s. He used it as a home office. It was recently demolished and a new addition built when the current owner built the FLW designed "tower room." (see latest version of blueprints) The interior windows from the master bedroom to...

Re:

Dr Storrer's plan: Thanks, this house was in my list. Now I know that the house is not built as Wright original design. In the other hand someone says that the house was built with Wright's designs..? Anyway, Is this floor plan Wrigh'ts design or the as-built floor plan with the changes mentioned? ...

One of the best things about the Brown House is the wood ceiling. The soft brown goes so well with the concrete gray.
I'm agree with you. I also love that looooong "gallery" along with the wood
