Regrettably at the Racine paper where I worked from 1978-2012, they regularly landfills negs after seven years until the mid 1970s. And yes, digital sca...

Re: Sources of Architectural Photography?

Newspaper prints would be high quality glossy prints from which halftones were then made.

Re: When is Nature not Wright?

I do not think anyone has made that assertion in this forum. The following is from a November 8, 2019 article in The Washington Post: The heavy spring and summer rains are part of a longer-term trend. The United States saw a 4 percent increase in precipitation between 1901 and 2015, with the Great L...

Re: When is Nature not Wright?

I have amended one paragraph in my Nature is Not Always Wright blog piece on www.wrightinracine.com: Local and state government representatives have looked unsuccessfully for possible sources of Federal, state, and local funding to help underwrite or create a loan fund to help shoreline homeowners i...

Re: When is Nature not Wright?

This is happening on all the Great Lakes. The Chicago Tribune has been running an extensive series about it. There is a breakwater across from the house which used to be well above water. The water level is now almost flush with it now.

Re: Hardy House windows

I have found the Wright window drawing in my collection of the original drawings. It is on a sheet with drawings for several other windows. It is noticeably different for what was photographed in the 1960s which, to the best of our knowledge, are the original windows. I do not have permission at thi...

Re: Hardy House windows

We have photos from ca. the 1960s from Robert Hartmann of Racine which show that the second window from the left was evidently mounted incorrectly at some unknown point in time, and is reversed. I am struck that after all the discussion, no one has reacted in the last 20 hours to the news that Oakbr...

Re: Hardy House windows

Resolution: Oakbrook Esser acknowledges the difference and does not know how it happened. They will remake the windows to the original design at their expense. The family is glad to have learned about the discrepancy and to solve this. That was never an issue for them. Over and out. I will email Joh...

Re: Hardy House windows

I said I was out, but responding to some of Stephen's questions: I may be asking an empty room at this point---but one wants to know: were the original windows replicated rather than being repaired and put back into the house because a) replacement was less expensive than repair, We do not know. The...
